It is with a heavy heart that we share the news of the passing of our beloved Co-Founder and Treasurer, Ed Mandrik.

Ed was the heart and soul of the Have A Heart Foundation since its inception. Nearly thirty years ago, he used his knowledge and love for the game of golf to create our signature event, our annual golf outing, in order to raise money for people with heart-related illness on Staten Island. From there, our organization grew, with Ed serving in a leadership capacity the entire time.

Since 1992, we have distributed over half a million dollars to help those with heart-related illness in the Staten Island community. None of this would have been possible without Ed's work, leadership, and love for the organization. We are so grateful to him for his years of service.

The Have A Heart family sends all our love to the entire Mandrik family during this difficult time.

A light of Hope in a time of darkness

We are happy to share some good news in these difficult times. Our foundation was able to help Hope, who was born with a heart defect. We gave her family $2,500 to help them pay medical bills. During these tough times, seeing Hope’s smiling face fills our hearts with hope.

We are so grateful to our friends at New York Community Bank, who raised over $2000 for the Have A Heart Foundation of SI in February. Many thanks to everyone who donated-your generosity has filled our hearts with happiness!

Giving back to children in need this holiday season

This holiday season, we decided to spread some cheer to three local families who have endured a lot this year. We delivered $5,000 each to the families of Andrew, Sami, and Nicholas. All three are children who suffer from heart and heart-related illness.

Baby Andrew is less than a year old and has hypotrophic cardiomyopathy and pulmonary edema. Sami is a one-year-old with hyploplastic right heart syndrome. She has already had two surgeries. Nicholas is five years old and has already had five major heart surgeries, with several more likely.

In addition to their conditions, these children and their families have struggled with high medical bills. That’s where the Have A Heart Foundation was able to step in and help during this difficult time.

We are so pleased we could make their holidays a little bit brighter. With your help, we can continue to help kids and adults across Staten Island!
